Why we like it
A British wine and spirits merchant established in 1698. The Berry brothers and Rudd have been the official wine supplier to the British Royal family since the reign of King George the third. So what does all this have to do with Scotch? Well BB&R have been buying up old scotch distilleries in an attempt to produce and showcase whiskies that are representative of the regions in which they come.
Their attempt at a sherry cask finished whisky is ticking some serious boxes. High quality sherry casks are considered a luxury in the world of whisky, and the spirits they mature often command top dollar.
A truly spectacular deep, copper colour. An absolute Christmas cake in a glass; dried fruits, orange, dates, raisins and almonds. Followed by baking spice warmth, think Cinnamon, clove and black pepper. This is a ridiculously good starting point to the world of Sherry cask finished whiskies, without the ridiculously steep price tag.
