Why we like it
The Old Pulteney distillery was established in the Scottish highlands in 1826 and is the most Northerly distillery in the mainland. Initially the distillery was only accessible by sea and the barley had to be shipped in by boat.
This is a clear, paler coloured whisky. There is a pleasant saline note to the first sip that is not too dissimilar to a fino sherry. There are sweet, floral and citrus elements to this whisky. Bananas, lemon drops and a saltiness that is a reminder of the distillery's coastal roots.
