Why we like it
Unico Zelo is the baby of Adelaide Hills winemaking phenoms Brendan and Laura Carter. Their aim is to create “Italian-inspired, textural and site-expressive wines” and “Australian examples of Mediterranean varieties in an approachable and jovial fashion.”
This is food wine and then some; Spaghetti alle Vongole? this wine. Chicken Parmi and chips? This wine. Ya Nanna's matzo ball soup? THIS WINE!
There's citrus on the nose here, fresh cut lime, lemon maybe even a snifter of pineapple. It's delightfully textural and rich. The heightened acidity keeps it well balanced though and adds to its length. A staff favourite.
